Hello and Welcome

Thank you for visiting my History web page. My name is Anthony Alborn, and in the last three years I have made over 145 presentations to schools and community groups on the history of Western Australia up until around 1900, starting with Captain Stirling’s arrival here in 1827.

I can show your group the unfolding story of one of the greatest and most recent colonization experiments in the history of the British Empire; the hope, the tragedies, and the realities of the life and times of those who lived here then.

These are slide presentations using stories and photos I have researched, produced and collected.

The presentations cover the mostly untold story of the founding of Western Australia. Its famous places, famous people, famous buildings, and the development of Guildford, the Swan Valley, Perth and Fremantle.

There are now over 70 separate presentations (54 Main Presentations which includes 22 on regional Western Australia plus 16 additional Small Presentations), going in chronological, geographical and special interest order.

Most presentations go for around 60-120 minutes and are constantly being updated and added to. Though I don’t charge for the actual presentations, I do have a minimum fuel fee of $25 when further than 10 kilometres from Gnangara up to a maximum of $50. PLEASE NOTE I don’t accept bottles of wine or presents, but Fuel Vouchers are fine.

Please click here to see the resource requirements for the presentations.

If you would like me to come to your community group to present some of the presentations, or would like more information please contact me here. I look forward to hearing from you - until then best wishes to you.

With grateful thanks to Pamela Statham-Drew and Michael J Bourke, who kindly allowed material to be used from their three books on James Stirling and the Swan.
